It's November and one of Green Drinks favorite time of year for food, community, and green conversation. Please join us at our special Green Drinks Fall Potluck at the Printshop Brewery featuring guest speaker, long time Green Drinker, Sam Rosolina. 

Growing up in the mountains of Northeast Tennessee, Sam Rosolina took an early interest in science and environmental conservation, and he followed that path to the University of Tennessee for graduate school. Throughout his PhD research, Sam focused on analysis of trace-level environmental toxins including the heavy metals released through coal-ash spills that were severely damaging the waterways of his Appalachian neighbors. He holds his dream position as Manager of the Compound Specific Isotope Analysis (CSIA) Laboratory at Microbial Insights in Knoxville, TN where he pursues a cleaner planet alongside his talented co-workers.
  
Sam will be talking about his work with Microbial Insights (MI), an environmental laboratory and biotech company that focuses on bioremediation: using native microbes to clean up the environment.  Specifically, MI specializes in the development and utilization of molecular biological tools to describe and quantify those useful microbial communities as well as to prove that contaminant degradation is actively occurring. Sam will be speaking about the basics of bioremediation, what MI does on a global scale, and will also explain his role with the company.
