East TN Building Officials Association Annual Training

Feb. 25th Schedule 8:00 a.m. Doors Open 8:00 - 9:00 - Registration 9:00 - Class begins 10:30 - Break (resume class after break) 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. - Lunch (Off-Site) 1:00 - Class resumes 2:30 - Break (resume class after break) 4:00 - Class ends - 4:00 -Hand out attendance certificates/recertification forms. John Swanson, a Deputy State Fire Marshall with the State of Minnesota and representative for the NFPA 72, will provide a full day of training on February 25th. His presentation will cover the most recent updates to the NFPA 72. The NFPA 72 has changed significantly over the past two cycles and now includes some important updates for code officials, designers and contractors. Some of the changes include a complete new format, new chapters added, low frequency notification appliance requirements, and a new chapter addressing voice alarm and other emergency communication systems, just to name a few. The seminar will also cover code compliant options outlined in NFPA 72 for transmitting the fire alarm signal from the protected premises to the supervising station. It will also address what is coming in future editions that will impact code officials.

Stephen Snow with the State of TN Fire Service and Codes Academy will provide training on February 26th from 9:00 - 12:00. Stephen will discuss the 2012 Energy Conservation Code and have a hands on session on Duct Blaster and Blower Door (DET) Testing. We are still working out the details for the afternoon session on February 26th. An updated flyer will be sent out to all ETBOA members once we have finalized the details.
