DESCRIPTION:Home Builders Association of Greater Knoxville resumes our member-based education series that will feature 3-person expert panels comprised of HBAGK members. The next workshop of 2019 is scheduled for 11:30 AM on June 12 at the HBAGK office and the topic is: Aging in Place.  \n\n\n\nThe series will continue on the first Wednesday of each month during lunchtime to accommodate most members' schedules. Future topics will cover Energy Efficiency\, Clients from Hell\, Sustainability and Green Building\, and Appraisals. \n\n \n\nGary Byrd\n\nGary Byrd Residential Drafting & Design\n\n\n\nCara Knapp\n\nNorwich University   School of Architecture\n\nPrivate Military College in Northfield\, Vermont\n\nBachelor of Architecture 2001\, with Minor in Engineering\n\nRegistered Architect in Tennessee\, North Carolina\, Kentucky and South Carolina\n\n\n\nUpon graduation from college Cara moved from Maine to Knoxville for her first full-time job and has found a great place to call her second home. Since that first job she has worked for multiple firms\, and a residential remodeling contractor\, here in Knoxville gaining a wide range of knowledge and experience along the way\, but never losing her passion for residential design. CityView Magazine's Best of the Best voters have recognized Cara as one of the best residential architects in our area for the last three consecutive years. Residential projects range from interior remodels and master suite additions to rental cabins and custom home designs. In addition to working closely with her residential clients\, and their builders\, Cara has been involved with commercial projects ranging from retail to hospitality and restaurant projects. \n\n\n\nCara represents the 'K' in oysk3\, becoming a partner in her own architectural firm in 2014. She is the 'face of the firm' and enjoys meeting new people and talking to potential clients to see how she and her firm can help their project come together.\n\n\n\nCara strives to bring everything she can to every client\, providing the same level of direct individual service for each project. She has a passion for creative thinking and design\, creating space that is specific for her client's needs and conscious of constraints outside the scope of the project.  \n\n\n\nPresentation Topic:       Aging in Place: Universal Design\n\nYears in Professional Field: 18 years\n\n\n\nTim Neal\n\nTim formed Fairfax Development in 1990 and started building houses and developing land after many years in the automotive industry. By 1994 he had joined HBAGK and become involved at the local\, state and national levels. Tim served as President of HBAGK in 2001\, 2009 & 2010\, and served as President of HBAT in 2006. In 2013 Tim was inducted into the Building Industry of TN Hall of Fame.\n\n\n\nTim became a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) in 2008 via NAHB Education and has since completed over 100 successful remodeling projects. In addition to being a Certified Green Builder and Certified Green Professional\, Tim has been awared the HBAGK Builder Member of the Year three times in 1998\, 2006 & 2009.\n\n\n\nRSVP with names of ALL guests to help us plan\, thanks!\n\n \n*Series sponsorships available - HBAGK members may pay a sponsorship fee to cover lunch based on the number of estimated participants or they may cater/prepare lunch in person pending pre-approval. Class attendance in 2018 ranged from 20 - 30 guests. Sponsors will be allowed to speak for 5 minutes and provide handouts\, etc. Company logos can be included on invitation emails and event webpage if received in time.
