SUMMARY:Green Drinks Knoxville's Happy Hour
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Happy Hour filled to the rim with a heavy pour of enviro-centric conversation garnished with your favorite adult beverages.\n\n\n\nThe Topic:\n\n\n\nThis month is for the pups! Join us with your beloved companions (furry or otherwise) at the patio of Pour Taproom for another month of great beer\, conversation and learning. We are SO excited to have both human and animal guest speakers share about their organization HABIT.\n\n\n\nHuman-Animal Bond in Tennessee\, or HABIT\, is a group of human and animal volunteers working together with the University of Tennessee to serve the community by promoting the valuable bond between people and animals. HABIT provides medically and behaviorally evaluated pets (dogs\, cats\, and rabbits) to make visits in any setting where the companionship of an animal would provide a benefit. Some of the facilities and program areas HABIT serves are:\n\n\n\n Partnership with Juvenile Court (CASA)\n\n Ruff Reading Program\n\n Assisted Living Centers\n\n Adult Day Programs\n\n Rehabilitation Centers\n\n Mental Health Facilities\n\n Cancer Treatment Centers\n\n Hospice Programs\n\n Community Colleges & Universities\n\n\n\nRuth Sapp\, our human guest speaker\, is the program coordinator for HABIT and has been with the program for 11 years. While Ruth has been the coordinator\, HABIT has doubled in size to over 600 volunteer teams and 200 facilities served.\n\n\n\nRuth is a native of Knoxville\, an animal lover\, and a gardener. She works with her own HABIT therapy dog Sugar\, a bossy little Corgi who makes folks smile with her sassy attitude.\n\n\n\nPrior to working with HABIT\, Ruth was Human Resources Coordinator at a local social services agency working with adolescent girls and their families in foster care. She has a degree in Organizational Management from Tusculum University.
